The Cove is one of our favorite casual lunch spots in Polson, and has fantastic ice cream. The pirate-themed restaurant is known for its sandwiches and pizza.
A bit off the beaten path, Stutzman's Country Market has some of the best ice cream in the valley, along with great sandwiches. We stop here every time we visit Montana.

If some bumpy dirt roads don't scare you, and you have the time to drive several hours, getting a pastry from the Polebridge Mercantile and then continuing to Kintla lake for an afternoon is one of our favorite summer day trips. Vehicle reservations are needed to enter this portion of Glacier National Park, and go online on March 2, 2022 on recreation.gov.
This restaurant overlooks a reservoir where turtles can be frequently seen sunning themselves (Kelsey's favorite to watch as a child.)
Swartz Lake is a short and easy hike, and a Koberg family favorite. Ask Kelsey if you want directions!
