Things To Do

We're excited to share some of our favorite places in the area with you! There is no shortage of great restaurants and bars in Stamford and the surrounding towns. We've listed a few favorites below, but we're happy to share more spots depending on what you're looking for- from great local 'fast food' and deli type places, to fun brunches, breweries, ice cream stands- don't hesitate to ask for a recommendation!
Downtown New Canaan

Downtown New Canaan

Elm St., New Canaan, CT 06840

Downtown New Canaan is about 20 minutes from Downtown Stamford and offers a great walkable area of shops, restaurants and galleries. Some favorite spots include Rosie (breakfast and lunch cafe), Cava Wine Bar & Wood Grille (they have sidewalk seating and a great prix fixe lunch menu) , and Gelatissimo Artisan Gelato- which are all within walking distance of each other.

Bedford Playhouse

Bedford Playhouse

633 Old Post Road, Bedford, NY 10506
, (914) 234-6704

Bedford Playhouse is located about 25 minutes from Downtown Stamford, and is a newly renovated non-profit arts, film and cultural center located in Bedford, NY. It's our favorite place to catch a movie- They show new releases, but also often host special screenings of documentaries and classic films, author events, play readings, concerts and more. They also have an in-house restaurant and bar.

Quartiere

Quartiere

51 Bank Street, Stamford, CT 06901
, (203) 892-6757

One of our favorite restaurants located in Downtown Stamford, Quartiere has fantastic Italian food, and is where we celebrated our engagement with our parents when we got home from our vacation. Try the pizzas, and their house made pasta dishes. They also serve brunch on the weekend.

Kouzina

Kouzina

223 Main Street, Stamford, CT 06901
, (203) 588-0110

Another Downtown restaurant favorite, serving Greek and Mediterranean food. Try the Greek Spreads sampler, the Gyro Egg Rolls and any of their pita wraps or skewers.

Colony Grill

Colony Grill

172 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902
, (203) 359-2184

Colony often makes 'top pizzas in America' lists. They're famous for their super thin crust pizzas, especially topped with their signature hot oil. If the wait is too long at the original location, you can try Riko's Pizza (also in Stamford) which has almost identical pies. Bronx House Pizza is also a solid option for a more classic New York City style pizza, or Sally's Apizza- a famous New Haven spot that recently opened a restaurant in Downtown Stamford.

Stamford Museum & Nature Center

Stamford Museum & Nature Center

39 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT 06903
, (203) 977-6521

This is our wedding venue, but also a fun place to visit during the day! They have a 10 acre farm home to lots of animals, miles of walking trails, a planetarium and a historic mansion. Admission ranges from $10-$15 for the day.

Waveny Park

Waveny Park

677 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT 06840
, (203) 594-3100

Waveny Park is home to the Waveny House, a historic home built by Lewis Lapham who founded Texaco, and childhood home of Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future). It was gifted to the town of New Canaan in the 60's and is now home to wooded walking/jogging trails, gardens, soccer and baseball fields, and large fields for dog-walking, picnics etc.

New York City

New York City

New York, NY

We are just an hour train ride from the center of Manhattan. Stamford train station has express trains all through the day that run to Grand Central Station. Let us know if you plan on making a trip into the city- we're happy to help you plan your trip and recommend shows, bars, restaurants and things to do!
