Kate and Tanner met through mutual friends at Turkey Run State Park in Marshall, Indiana. It took place in the summer of 2016, when they went down for a float trip. Kate’s initial reaction of Tanner was that he was extremely shy. He hardly spoke to her at all, so they remained acquaintances for awhile. Later that year, Tanner finally got over his nerves and opened up at another get together between the same said friends. There, Tanner and Kate hit it off. However, she was unavailable at the time- so they remained friends for about two years. Their relationship really sparked when she became available. This was shortly after her college graduation, as she was still on campus finishing up some course work. They hung out a few times, when Tanner took her to one of his coworkers homes. That’s where he introduced her to his coworker as his girlfriend (without consent). She laughed and called him out about it shortly after for not officially asking her to be exclusive. That’s when he asked, and she said… YES! They then, got an apartment together and never looked back. Fast forward to another dog, a house, farm animals, and five years later- when he finally popped the question with the help of her best friend, Morgan. In her hometown of Milledgeville at the Deep Roots Festival, he tricked her into taking a photo in front of the Festival’s sign. That’s when he got down on one knee and asked Kate to be his bride! Y’all know the rest. 😉
