BEACHES

Kamaole Beaches I, ll, & lll

Kamaole Beaches I, ll, & lll

South Kihei Road, Kihei, HI 96753

The first, most Northern Kama'ole Beach, is the largest and nicest beach of the three with fine white sand and great swimming conditions. The second is smaller but can offer fun waves for body surfing if the swell cooperates. The third Kamaole Beach is the favorite for South Maui Locals with a large grass park. All within a couple minutes from the house.

Makena Beach (Big Beach)

Makena Beach (Big Beach)

Makena Rd, Wailea-Makena, HI 96753

Powdery soft sand, picnic tables, portable toilets, paved parking and great views of the turquoise ocean. When the ocean is calm, the swimming and snorkeling is good here. **Wait to take off your shoes till you get out past the trees, thorns may be on the ground.

Pa'ako Beach (Secret Cove)

Pa'ako Beach (Secret Cove)

Makena Alanui, Kihei, HI 96753

Pa'ako Beach is located on Maui's south shore, just south of Big Beach. This small cove probably got this name because it is hidden between homes in Makena. To get to it, you have to find the narrow opening in a lava-rock wall in an upscale neighborhood. The lava rocks on the beach create a nice scenery for picture-taking and relaxing. Not best for swimming, and no facilities here.

Baldwin Beach Park

Baldwin Beach Park

Hana Highway, Paia, Maui, HI 96779,

Baldwin Beach is a wonderful, long, wide, sandy beach park just outside of Paia. Fully equipped with lifeguards, bathrooms, showers, barbecues, picnic tables and a covered pavilion. This long, white sand beach is perfect for a scenic walk or run. There are protected swimming areas with calm waters on the east and west ends known as Baldwin Cove and Baby Beach.

DT Fleming Beach Park

DT Fleming Beach Park

Lower Honoapiʻilani Hwy Lahaina, HI 96761,

This classic Kapalua beach is the most popular bodysurfing and bodyboarding site on West Maui. Its long, sandy beach is perfect for a relaxing beach day and offers ample shade thanks to the large ironwood trees that line the sand. The Beach also features plenty of amenities, including picnic tables and grills. Occasionally, the water can become dangerous during high surf with strong rip currents and powerful waves, so be mindful of the latest conditions.

ADVENTURE / RECREATIONAL

Flyin Hawaiian Zipline

Flyin Hawaiian Zipline

1670 Honoapiilani Hwy Wailuku, HI 96793,
(808)463-5786

This tour offers the unique combination of a thrilling outdoor experience along with native Hawaiian plant restoration. We are the longest and most intense zipline on the island, providing the opportunity to soar through the beautiful Maui skies and marvel at the stunning views with minimal impact to the ‘aina (land). This exciting adventure covers over 2 and a half miles of the West Maui canopy stretching from Waikapu to Ma‘alaea.

Haleakalā National Park - Pipiwai Trail

Haleakalā National Park - Pipiwai Trail

HI

This will be one stop on our Road to Hana adventure! One of the most popular hikes in Maui, the Pipiwai Trail, located in the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park, is a must for anyone visiting western Maui. There, the Pipiwai Trail is a 4-mile roundtrip hike with spectacular views. The hike takes you above the Seven Sacred Pools of Oheo Gulch, traversing past banyan trees, waterfalls, and a bamboo forest.

Iao Valley

Iao Valley

Wailuku, HI 96793

‘Iao Valley State Park is on virtually every guidebook and tourist pamphlet’s short-list of must-see places – and for good reason. It is easily accessible by car or tour companies, has paved walkways, steps, and signage with historical information. It is also dramatically scenic and particularly well suited for older folks and kids. Great as a last stop before heading to the airport!
