Cliveden of the National Trust
6401 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144

If you're not too partied out, drop by and chill with us over light breakfast and coffee Saturday morning at the Barn and Carriage House at Cliveden, the historic country estate of the Chew family. Parking is available in the parking lot of the Second Baptist Church of Germantown, accessible on Cliveden Street. See link for location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/11s7o6xhAm65EvK16 Street parking is also available. For history nerds, Cliveden was a focal point of the Battle of Germantown in the Revolutionary War. More than a third of the American casualties during the Battle of Germantown occurred at Cliveden. Cliveden's history is also shaped by the scars of slavery and indentured servitude, as the Chew family was one of the largest (and latest) slave-owning families in Philadelphia. Despite Germantown's abolitionist history as the site of 1688 Quaker Petition Against Slavery, historical records indicate the presence of enslaved people at Cliveden until about 1800.
