How We Met

All because two strangers 'Swiped Right' before they officially became neighbors

Most of you know our story, but it’s too good not to share again. Back in October 2016, Mark was looking to buy a house, and Tammy’s next door neighbor was selling hers. Mark had one stipulation for his realtor, that it could not be more than one mile from Lakeshore (he hated driving). Tammy was trying to get the scoop from the seller on the guy who would soon be her new neighbor, only knowing his name was Mark he worked at Lakeshore and had a 'cute little dog he talked to'. During his inspection, Mark was asking similar questions and when she told him about Tammy she said "Hey, you never know". Meanwhile, we were on the dreaded dating app Tinder and happened to swipe right on one another the same day as the house inspection, what are the odds? While we were chatting on the app, we learned that we both shared a love for Key West (while Mark was in an airport traveling there), our dogs (Perfect Mischa), and had mutual Hilton connections. When asking what we did for a living, Mark remembered what the neighbor had said about the girl next door. His only response was “Hold up, this is going to sound weird but do you live off of Greenleaf?” To which Tammy replied “Are you the Mark buying the house next door?” Cute start right? If only it was that easy though. Mark was in a phase where he didn't want to date anyone, so Tammy spent the next two years convincing him that she was worth it. In October of 2018, Mark had planned an upcoming trip to Key West. One of his Best Men finally had enough, "Hey, not for nothing we love single Mark on our couple's trips, but can you finally bring someone with you?" Taking that advice to heart, he finally asked Tammy if she would be interested in joining him for their first adventure. The rest is history.

The Proposal

Rooftop Winter Wonderland

On a whim, we decided to book a trip to Nashville to go see our friend Pete ref until we found out they switched his game. We decided we would go anyway and make a fun weekend out of it. The first day we were there, we got ready and hopped around to a few bars, and had a nice dinner and stopped by a secret speakeasy. Then we went back to the hotel to check out their rooftop bar. Much to my surprise, Mark had reserved an igloo in this beautiful winter village they had set up on the roof. He got down on one knee and as he loves to remind me, my first response was “Is this happening!?!?” And then of course I said YES. We spent the rest of the night celebrating in our igloo and calling our friends and family to tell them the good news. We later found out that we got engaged the same day as Josh Allen so that has to be good luck right?
