Tami's Take

How I see it...

We met in 6th grade. I was the new girl in town, naive and clueless. We would spend hours chatting on AOL Messenger, where Sam would be making me laugh by logging on and off to get my attention with his cow "moo" log in chime. Little did I know, he would be the one I marry. Fast-forward a few years into the future, Sam and I found each other again. I saw him standing there, next to his beautiful mother, outside of Unity Hall. They both eagerly waved hello at me. I happily smiled and waved back. This was a moment I'll never forget. He helped me take my luggage up to my room. From then on, we were inseparable. We would take walks around campus at night, talking about all the things we loved in life. We talked about things that made us smile, and things we shared in common, like music. We quickly became best friends, but I didn't want to have a boyfriend. Sam confessed to me that he would wait in the lobby at the dorms, hoping I'd come downstairs and share a cigarette under the cloudy skies of Edinburg, Texas. Sometime later, I switched schools and moved away. This put our relationship to a halt. I began pursuing a different career, a different guy, a different life. The wrong life. After I moved back to Edinburg, I reached out to Sam. I remembered how close we were, and how life had taken us in different directions. I missed my best friend. I asked if I could go see him at work. My friend Hailey came with me, we caught up and talked like we hadn’t stopped talking at all. It was just like I remembered. It was always just so natural with Sam. After this encounter, I told him about a job opening at my current place of employment. When he came for his interview, I couldn't believe how handsome he looked! I remember he had these tight khaki pants, and a nice flannel shirt. He’s so tall, and those eyes are so blue! I ran up to him with a big smile on my face and hugged him for a while. He got the job, and the rest is history.
