Many of you already know how we met, but for those who don’t—- it all started at the Neal Rec. Center. A westside summer camp ‘love story’. Now I’ll be honest… I was definitely the one doing most of the flirting back then lol. It didn’t get me anywhere but the ‘friend zone’, but little did she know—- I would become the man of her dreams lol. We continued being friends and stayed connected through social media and eventually exchanged phone numbers. And even though we ended up going to different middle schools, I never forgot my westside crush Tamia ‘Talk To The Hand’ Gooden. In 8th grade, she moved from Bryan to College Station where I was already living. I remember hearing rumors that she might be transferring, and I would ask around hoping they were true. I knew it was only a matter of time before we’d end up at the same high school, and I’d have to make my move. We were both popular, athletic,—- oh, and let’s not forget breathtaking lol But between us—- even though I’d say she looked better, I most certainly was the better athlete lol Shhhhh she could be listening. And when that time finally came, everything changed. I started taking her on dates, surprising her with little gifts, and doing my best to show her how much she meant to me. I’d even risk getting extra workouts from her track coach just to sit with her at meets. Making sure she was ready before every race and being the first to congratulate her afterward. It was safe to say, Tamia Gooden was my girl! What started as a simple summer camp crushing turned into hall walks through College Station High; then her supporting me through my college football years. Fast forward a short time into something surreal and intentional. Our story kept unfolding. The rest, as they say, is history—- and it’s brought us right here, stepping into this beautiful new chapter together. The day is awaiting for Tamia Gooden to officially become Tamia Day. The love of my life.
