We met at Planet Fitness on July 24, 2024. Some may call it a coincidence — we call it God’s destiny. Neither of us was even supposed to be there that day, but we both happened to be off work. I walked into the gym, confident and focused, headphones on and gym bag in hand, ready to conquer upper-body day. With tunnel vision locked in, I didn’t notice the tall, handsome, muscular man nearby. As I made my way to the cable machine, I realized the attachment was far above my reach. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I accepted the obvious — I was too short. That’s when my future knight in shining armor stepped in and lowered it for me before returning to his workout. A few minutes later, he came back and boldly said, “You’re not doing the workout right.” Now that’s one way to shoot your shot! I let him know I had been working out long enough to know what I was doing, but he insisted — saying that God had spoken to him that day and told him I was the one. The only problem? He needed my number to prove it. And just like that, the rest was history. His version of the story may be slightly different, but the ending is always the same — He found his Ruth, and I found my Boaz.
