If someone told us they only had time for one activity, we would recommend the drive through smugglers notch. Route 108 snakes its way through the mountains creating one of the most scenic, and white knuckle, drives on the east coast. We have done this drive many times over years, from the white Buick La Sabre to the Mini Van. This is a MUST for everyone.
Ben and Jerrys needs no explanation. In 2018 during our first road trip together, we stopped here for a tour and to sample some delicious ice cream.
Enjoy the beauty of Mount Mansfield (Mozôdebiwajok) at Stowe. Vermont's tallest peak shares it's slopes with Stowe Resort. We love Stowe for its steep ski runs and powder (ask Tamar about the box), but the scenic gondola ride or auto road are a great way to take in Manfield and all its glory.
This New England Fjord is a bit out of the way, but it is well worth the drive. Lake Willoughby has crystal-clear water that is perfect for a hot summer afternoon. We recommend going on one of the many hikes that surround the lake before taking a dip in her crisp Northeast Kingdom waters.
Located right across the street from Stowe Mountain Resort, the cold mountain waters of the West Branch of the Little River forms a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Prepared to have your breathe taken away! Peep this throwback to our first roadtrip to VT in 2018!
The Birds of Vermont Museum is the definition of a hidden gem. There are hundreds of hand carved and painted wooden birds representing the wide variety of species that live in the Green Mountain State. One-part art exhibit and one-part natural history, the Birds of Vermont Museum is a great way to spend a morning.
This is a must top for those who like to shop for second clothes and wares. This is not a chain, it's the Bargain Boutique, make sure to bring singles, everything is only $2!
Visiting Cabot for us is a must every time we are in the area, we love to try the free samples and stock up on some aged cheddar
