How we met.....we actually met on Match although our paths crossed very briefly nearly 30 years ago at Murray State University. Todd was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Todd’s last semester at MSU was spring 1988. That is the same semester that I pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon as a little sister. He was dating someone back in his hometown and I was dating one of Todd’s fraternity brothers. Fast forward to November 3, 2016...., we were messaging back and forth through the Match website. We discovered how much we had in common including several mutual college friends so we revealed our real names. If you are not familiar with how Match works, you use a user name and not your real name. Todd was VolRN and I was cheermom2016. I invited Todd to come to Paducah to meet in person on November 5. I had just purchased the house less than a month before. Todd got to meet my dad and my mom that day! Dad was working on the roof and mom popped by while he was here too, I absolutely fell in love with him over Thanksgiving break. We were at my parent’s house putting up their Christmas tree. Alyssa was trying to hang an ornament on the tree but instead dropped it and it broke. She was very upset because it was an ornament that one of her twin cousins had made. Todd pulled her close to him and consoled her so gently. Bam!! Cupid hit me. My dad was watching all of this as well. On May 8, 2017 Todd and I were at the Strawberry Festival in Humboldt, Tennessee at the fireworks show. As soon as the show was over, Todd got down on one knee and proposed but not till after he struggled getting the ring box out of his cargo short’s pocket. After over a year of being engaged, we were finally able to set a date- November 3, 2018!! It will be a small wedding but we look forward to sharing it with some of our close friends and family. We look forward to this next chapter on our lives. “Come grow old with me. The best is yet to be.”
