How we met

First comes biking, then comes marriage

As many of you know we met biking. Neither one of us initially paid each other attention. Red was a random girl who showed up to our bike rides and then one day came to our smaller ride. She had clip ins and if you know anything about people who clip in to their bike... they think they know stuff lol. Red had a super bright light and Tamara did not, so she asked Red to borrow her light (That meant riding side by side). After chatting a couple bike rides, Red asked Tamara on a date in Cabo.

“The Marriage Talk”

August 2020

From Red: When I took Tamara on our first date in Cabo I knew everything was different. We toyed with the idea of eloping but knew our friends and family would have a fit! So I told Tamara, “next time we come to Mexico, we will elope”. So we started to invite a couple friends and family to a “NYE party/my birthday party” because we knew no one was doing a lot because of the pandemic. So there it was a month after we met, we called the officiant and told her she was being flown out for a surprise wedding! I was going to tell my friends that I was proposing and Tamara was going to tell her friends that she was proposing.

“The Proposal”

October 3, 2020

From Tamara: I knew Red had the ring. We went to go look at rings in August because I needed an idea of what Red wanted. She never went to go look at rings. I told Red, “I’m not going to be a real fiancé. I’m going to be single and then married.” So on October 3, Red decided to shut me up. :-). She told me we were going out and to get dressed. I already had my make up and hair done from a photoshoot I helped my friend Brooke out with (but not my nails!) We went to Hill Prince in DC with no one else present. We started with a glass of champagne and then headed towards the back of the bar. I really thought we were going to a sip and paint or something in the back. Lol. But when I started walking there were these brown paper bags along the side with letters carved out with candles in them that said, “Will you be my 90 day fiancé”. My slow butt didn’t even catch it at first. Red had to ask me, “What does that say?”. And then I still didn’t get it. Then my unicorn was on one knee asking me verbally. At some point, after the shock of it all and a handful of friends who knew walked in, I said “of course!”
