The Wedding Website of Tamara Jones and David Gross
We highly recommend booking your accommodations at least six months in advance. Scotland is seeing more and more tourism, and things are already booking up. So get ahead of the crowds and don't miss out!

Flight

Edinburgh Airport or London Heathrow Airport

Edinburgh airport is the most direct and only a 28-minute drive to the town of Dunfermline, where the wedding takes place. If you want to save half the cost, we suggest flying into London and driving or taking a scenic 4-hour train ride from London to Edinburgh. See train for more info. Additionally, cheap 1-hour flights are available starting at $70 from London to Edinburgh on Ryanair as another great option.

Train

London to Edinburgh

Direct high-speed trains run by LNER depart from Kings Cross station in London and take you to the Central station in Edinburgh in about 4.5 hours, reaching the maximum speed of 125 mph! There are over 50 daily departures (depending on the weekday). Alternatively, you can choose to travel by Avanti West Coast trains, departing from London Euston. But keep in mind that these trains take a bit longer to reach the stunning capital of Scotland - their travel time is 5.5 hours. Prices start at $90.

Rental Car

Uber and Rental Cars

Are you only attending wedding events and post-Edinburgh? -If so, you will not need a car. Edinburgh is a walking and cycling city similar to NYC and London, and the wedding event is less than 30 minutes from Edinburgh and minutes from surrounding towns. Uber is best. Are you traveling on to St. Andrews and Highlands Whiskey tours? Renting a car on the last day in Edinburgh is ideal. Let me know if you want to share a rental car, and I'll connect some of you.

House Or Rental

Hotels & Bed and Breakfasts

I would book your hotels and Bed and Breakfasts as soon as possible -outside of the large cities, they book up quickly. Below are the places we are staying over the shared part of our trip that may help when googling locations. *Welcome Event & Wedding -we are staying in the town of Dunfermline, Fife -where the wedding takes place. There are several hotels and Bed and Breakfasts in the town. *Edinburgh -we are staying in Oldtown at Residence Inn by Marriott Edinburgh. *St Andrews -we are staying close to the university at the Ardgowan Hotel. *Inverness (the closest city in the highlands for the Whiskey tours) -Drumdale Bed and Breakfast.

Travel Note

More Getting around Scotland Info

Edinburgh has a plethora of hotel accommodations. Outside of the major cities, the country relies heavily on B&Bs. These book up quickly, so snag them before they sell out.
