The heart of downtown Knoxville featuring several bars and restaurants. We love Stock and Barrel (burgers and whiskey), Tupelo Honey (Southern classics), Soccer Taco (popular chain of Mexican cuisine), and Downtown 211 ( rooftop bar).
A short day hike with great views just outside of Knoxville and a fun picnic spot. For experienced hikers this trail is fairly easy, but for the rest of us, expect a moderate hike with steep slopes and densely wooded areas.
A nationally famous amusement park, owned by queen Dolly Parton herself. Rides, attractions, and shows for all ages. Great for a full day of family fun and good food. If you leave East TN knowing one thing, let it be Dolly is everything.
A block from Market Square, Gay Street houses many more bars, restaurants, movie theater and fun things to do. Historic Tennessee Theater: Plays and concert venue Maple Hall Bowling Alley: Bowling and adult beverages (what could be better?) Suttree's High Gravity Tavern: Classic bar vibes with famous Ramen and arcade games Cruze Farm: Amazing ice cream from a local dairy farm
An interactive science museum that is great for kids and very nostalgic of my childhood. Located in Oak Ridge (25 min from downtown Knoxville), the museum sheds light on the town’s history of developing the atomic bomb (The Manhattan Project) and all of the advancements in science and engineering since then. If you are interested in STEM, this is definitely a great place to learn and spend a couple of hours. Oak Ridge is also where I primarily grew up and is a great little town!
