Our Story Who would have thought our story would begin one summer night at Edgewood Elementary? We had just left a party celebrating the end of the school year. Hours melted into laughter and endless conversation under the warm night sky, and we both knew our bond was something truly special. Our mothers called it puppy love, insisting we were too young to know what love really was, but deep down, we knew it wasn’t true. On September 28, 2011, Dez asked me to be his girlfriend. Even when I moved to California for high school, distance could never weaken what we had. Every visit, every call, every shared laugh brought us closer. Living together, we created our own Thursday adventures, climbing the hills of Marin, scootering down the Embarcadero to Ashy Pizza, and sharing every moment with our puppy Ja’Barkis. He became part of our journey in more ways than we ever imagined. Through raising him, we learned the true meaning of family, patience, and unconditional love, and he showed us all we have to look forward to in the next chapter of our lives together. On October 13, 2021, we made it official again, embracing the love and life we had built side by side. We have explored the world together, traveling from the ancient civilizations of Honduras and Mexico to the sparkling waters of Turks and Caicos, exploring the islands of the Caribbean. Punta Cana was our first international destination together, and as we stood on that beach, watching the sunset yet again, Dez told me we would get married there. About a year later, he proposed. Now, 15 years after that summer night, we are preparing for the most important sunset of all, getting married at Dreams Macao Beach. After watching countless sunsets together in different corners of the world, this one marks a full-circle moment, celebrating our love surrounded by those who mean the most to us.
