We love this space, from the Gene Leahy Mall to the Riverfront and Tal's favorite, the Skate Ribbon! This park features a ebike rentals, a reflecting pool, swings, hammocks, fire pits, roller skating, a pet area, and plenty of green space for lounging with a book.
We went here for the first time in July 2022 during a quick apartment-hunting road trip! The Durham Museum, housed in Omaha's old Union Station, provides and overview of Omaha/Nebraska history with ehibits for everyone (except staunch museum haters). There is even an old fashioned soda fountain and candy shop where you can enjoy an ice cream sunday! With trains and more to climb on, the space is family friendly. The Durham also regularly features interesting traveling exhibits.
Did you know Omaha is home to the #1 zoo in the US?! We didn't until moving here. The world's largest indoor desert habitat, known as the Desert Dome, is a larndmark structure visible from much of the Omaha area. It also features and aquarium and numerous other exhibits so be sure to look at a map and pick what to see and what to skip!
We went here in October 2023, right before Tal officially moved to Omaha the first time. We really enjoy getting out in nature together and May should be the perfect time for it! With several different areas and sometimes a themed exhibit, you can make your stroll through the gardens as long or short as you like. When we went they had some awesome model trains running!
Only a 6min walk from the Cambria Hotel, Omaha hosted the Mens College World Series here every June, so if you are into baseball check it out! Fun traditions come along with the MCWS, such as the jello shot competition at Rocco's Pizza where fans compete to see which team's fans will buy the most shots. Rocco's is a 4min walk from the Cambria.
If it is a nice day for a stroll this is a good place to go! This bridge is on a lot of "what to do in Omaha" lists, so we visited in June 2023 when Tal came up for the Mens College World Series. A line in the middle denotes the border between Nebraska and Iowa, so if you havent been out this way before, why not hit both states?
