Most Perfect & Best Night Ever

Our Story

10.11.2017

We met as Resident Advisors at Washington State University. I moved into Rogers Hall the winter of 2016, and started training with this group of RAs. I invited David and Jacob into my room when they were on rounds one night to meet my new pet frog, Jerry. This was our first encounter. Come to find out shortly after, he was on floor 10 as the RA, and I was on 11. The semester came and went, summer break happened when David messaged me a few times, myself not thinking anything of it. We moved back to Rogers Hall to start summer RA training again (on the same floors as the year prior) and this is when things were thought to be “maybe be a thing;” this was only encounter number two. RA training allowed us to hangout for over 12 hours a day with one another, but it wasn’t quite enough. We chatted constantly, and hung out before and after as well training. At the end of the summer before the residents moved in we promised each other to continue to hang out and keep talking. Once October hit we were best friends, had shared our life stories together, hung out constantly, studied together often, met outside of one another’s classes, went on juice bar dates, Southfork dates, Breakfast Club dates, spent Cougar Football Saturdays together, had met each other’s families, and finally, we decided “we are more than just good friends.” We shared our first kiss on October 11th 2017. After this, we endured small seasons of long distance as breaks in the school semester occurred. But this then turned into 3.5 years of road trips to each other’s home towns every few weeks to once a month as I departed for Nursing School and David continued his degrees in Pullman, WA. It wasn’t until September 2021 that I decided to invite David to move to Spokane. We live near Audubon Park, and naturally we decided a puppy was the best decision for 2022 and adopted Piper. She is quite honestly the light of our life, and has the best time going to Audobon park each day to run, hang out, and see her friends. While we adjusted to this new normal with a puppy, I was a nurse in the Emergency Room (working nights) and David decided to obtain a third degree. He started school and studied intensely to complete a three year program in less than a year. He graduated this last October with a degree in Computer Science. Whilst David made a career change, the night shifts in the ER were not working for our little family of three; therefore, I began a new career in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in January 2023. Engagement and Marriage were a topic of discussion for a while and was in the works; however, life was busy (as you can see). The right moment needed to be present in our busy lives, and once things slowed down this last fall, David found the perfect day on November 12th 2023 at Piper’s favorite place, and our neighborhood home park, Audobon.
