We met in Louisville Kentucky in a hot muggy gym, on one of the back courts while we were both out recruiting. Little did we know that work banter about basketball would eventually get us here! To the naked eye, the similarities were there, but the depth of our connection waited just underneath the surface. The love we have for our families and basketball was clear, but who would have known there was so much more that awaited us. We both appreciated the beauty of film making and storytelling. We both could find joy in the whimsical and transportational nature of books (one of us is more of an audio book/podcast guru). We share unexpected loves like popcorn (one of us is the self-proclaimed popcorn connoisseur), animal planet, and both still remember all of the lessons from our martial arts days growing up. #Idontwanttofight #IYKYK We share hidden talents like dancing, bowling and a unique ability to go bar-for-bar with our favorite musicians. The sealing of the deal, was a month or so later when we crossed paths again and the statement of “Remember; I know what you like.” Was said with such certainty, as if we had done this life together before. A gutsy trip across the border, and a walk through a childhood neighborhood, are a few of the many things that let us know we found our person. The icing on the cake was meeting family and sharing stories about our parents, siblings, and upbringing. Realizing that even though we come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, we very much lived parallelled experiences along the way. It is safe to say we have found our reflection in each other, with just enough differences that we approach each day with an excitement to take it on and grow together.
