Casey grew up in his small hometown of Elida, Ohio, and Stephanie in her even smaller hometown of Palmer Lake, Colorado. Casey decided to venture out to Denver and see what life was like away from home. Meanwhile, Stephanie also moved to Denver to further her career. By pure chance, Casey ended up moving in with some friends from back home, who also happened to work with Stephanie. They were soon introduced to each other, and quickly became good friends and started hanging out almost every chance they could. They enjoyed snowboarding, paddle boarding with the dogs, going to concerts, and they bonded over how close their beliefs and morals aligned. After Casey spent some time with Stephanie, getting to know her family and seeing where she was from, he decided he wanted to officially ask her to be his girlfriend, which she had been patiently waiting for! They both realized that God brought them together for a reason and were excited to see what He had in store for them.
Casey spent 2 years around Stephanie with her family and friends, but knew he wanted to head back home to be closer to his family. They ended up both moving to Ohio, and began the next chapter of their lives. They spent time around Casey's family and friends, and their dogs also began to love the Ohio life. With Casey's help, Stephanie purchased her first home in Ohio and officially became an Ohioan! Even though they will be planting their roots in Ohio, they knew they always wanted to get married in the place where they first met and fell in love.
October 22nd of 2021 felt like any other day to the couple, and it was a Friday which meant Stephanie and Casey got to finally see each other after the long work week. Stephanie stopped at the store to buy some groceries to make dinner, and as she was about to go checkout, Casey had asked her to grab a cheesecake. Cheesecake usually meant that it was too long of a week and it was time to indulge and relax. After making some soup together, they sat down to watch the new movie Dune on HBO. Halfway through the movie, Casey paused it and said, "I want some cheesecake." And when he stood up, he looked back at Stephanie and said, "You know what goes really well with cheesecake?" She responded, “Uhhh, milk?” He chuckled while shaking his head, and said, “Well yeah, that, too.” He then began kneeling down, pulled the ring out of his pocket, and said, "It also goes really well with this. Will you marry me?" Stephanie began to cry and felt all sorts of emotions, and of course said yes! Having that moment just the two of them was exactly how the proposal was supposed to happen, and Casey pulled off the best surprise of Stephanie's life.
