A well-known suburb of Guadalajara. It’s buildings are colorful, streets cobblestone and overall has a nice charm to it. Here you can shop pottery, artesian goods, visit galleries and find some good food spots to grab a bite.
Chapala is a small lake town 45 minutes outside of Guadalajara with the most beautiful sights. There are many small shops, vendors, and restaurants.
Right outside of the city and a smaller town than Tlaquepaque, Tonala is known for it’s ceramics and open air market where it is sold. There is all kinds of cermaics from items for your home to your garden, you can find it all and sometimes buy at a wholesale price. Be sure to bring cash!
Guadalajara is known for birria, torta ahogada, tequila and more. What I have learned is that as you plan your days accordingly to what you may be doing and where you may be. As it is important to have a few spots picked out so that you’re not searching for a place to eat while you’re hangry. Tik Tok is my BFF to look up food spots- Do your research! When we visited I do not think there was one place that was bad on our entire trip.
I know this is crazy… I cannot even explain how delicious the Soraya Cake is from this restaurant. It is a decedent chocolate cake, with Nutella icing, and a salted carmel cream on the inside. The presentation of the cake is gorgeeee. The food was good, but the cake was the best I ever had. I would highly suggest going here late night and getting the cake and some cocktails! TRUST ME!
