A country boy from Laie first noticed a town girl from Kalihi through my graceful cultural dance moves at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We were later introduced through mutual friends, and the rest was history! We started as friends, and during a difficult time in my life, he became my biggest source of comfort and support. Soon after, he asked me to his junior prom, won an OIA Division I football championship our senior year, and finally asked me to be his girlfriend (clearly, it was a big year for him). From becoming high school sweethearts to surviving long distance in college, we’ve continued choosing each other through every season of life. And after a very patient 12+ year wait (lol), he gave me the easiest “yes” when he proposed in Portland in front of my family. Now, 13 years later, we’re so excited to become husband and wife and begin our next chapter together.
