I noticed Maddie for the first time at the very last meeting before our group left for Italy the summer after freshman year. Keep in mind we were part of an organization that had meet weekly for the past year, but had never met each other before. We were all introducing ourselves, then this girl stands up and says she’s from Washington, Oklahoma. This caught my attention because it’s a fairly small town, and my mom is from there. She also was pretty good looking, so that solidified the fact that I had to get to know her on this trip. I got to Italy a day earlier than the rest of the people on the trip, thanks to the opportunity of flying standby. The next morning I woke up and headed to the airport to meet with everyone else. There, with a few people that had arrived, was this pretty girl from Washington. I sat down and started talking to my friend Luke that was in the group. Later on after everyone had arrived, and we took a bus into Venice (not a boat surprisingly) I caught up to her on the walk to the hotel. Of course I and hit her with the “so you’re from Washington?” line. To which she seemed super excited that someone actually knew where she was from. From that point forward tried to position myself as close as I could to her for the rest of the trip. From the looks of it I’d say it worked. - Tyler
We met in the Venice airport the summer after our freshman year of college. This is all thanks to a last minute opportunity opening up for me to study abroad with our leadership group PCS! After everyone landed we gathered as a group, and we took a bus to our hotel. On the walk from the bus to the hotel a cute boy I’d noticed at the airport caught up to me and asked me about where I was from. Anyone who is from a small town knows the only way to explain where you’re from is to tell people you the closest “big town” to you haha. So I did, but to my surprise he knew exactly where I was from! He had this charm about him that made me have butterflies instantly. Little did I know I had just met my future husband! I flew 5,000 miles away to meet someone who lived 5 minutes away from me. He felt like a little piece of home. The moment I met Tyler I knew my life would never be the same. Over the next couple weeks we traveled all over together experiencing the best summer of our lives! From traveling Italy that summer, to coming home and tackling the remaining 3 years of college, and all the adventures in between we have been lucky to do it all together. Tyler is the most kind hearted loving person, and is truly one of my biggest blessings. I didn’t know it then, but God sent me Tyler when I needed him the most. And let me tell you this, he was everything I had prayed for. Here's to forever -Maddie
