How We Met

9.22.23

A match made in Heaven... literally. We met through an online dating app- Hinge. A couple weeks later, we met for the first time after work at a quaint bar in Downtown Fernandina, the Decantery. Tad didn't waste any time getting into the 50 questions on the first date. I was blown away with his character and genuine interest in me. He was and still is unlike any guy I have ever met. We shared so many stories & interests that led us to believe we were the same person! The two of us wished the night wouldn't end. Call me crazy but by the second date, I knew I was going to marry Tad. The rest is history...

The Proposal

07.09.22

Mexico was a special place for the two of us as this was our first vacation together. Something about tequila, group volleyball, long walks on the beach, and crystal-clear water brought us back only months later. Our proposal took place in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico on July 9, 2023, and was nothing short of unique and meaningful. That morning Tad said he wanted to do a spontaneous excursion with ATV’s and cave exploring. We were able to get the last two reservations of the afternoon and got ready for the day. The ATV tour took us for a wild and dusty ride through the Mexican jungle. After, we were able to shower off and suit up…yes they recommended us wear wet suits due to cold water in the caves. Say no more, I put one on but of course Tad and the other men didn’t. Fast forward, we found ourselves unexpectedly swimming through the cave to reach the main chamber. Next thing you know, all of the lights went out & we experienced total darkness…you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face if you tried. They played beautiful music on the stalactites while we experienced this dark moment. Needless to say, I was so terrified squeezing Tad’s hand so tight that I didn’t notice Tad on one knee when the lights came back on. There was a beautiful array of colors that lit up the cave & stalactites but nothing compared to the rock Tad was holding asking me to marry him. My heart was beating so fast with fear & excitement all at once, I said YES. I said yes with my wetsuit, water-shoes, helmet, & all. We ended our excursion with a celebratory shot of tequila in the middle of the jungle where the tour guide told us we were the FIRST couple to ever get engaged there. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Florida!
