I worked at Southwest High school as a Cheerleading coach/Track Coach for going on 5 years. Phil was the new hire Head football coach & athletic coordinator. On July 26,2022 I had a meeting with the principal describing our new head coach and I remember thinking he’s probably old this doesn’t concern me but will meet him. I remember the principal really bragging on the size of this man’s legs & I honestly thought that was rather odd. That following day July 27,2022 we had to renew our CPR training. It was the middle of a hot summer day, I had just finished cheer practice and I was hot & ready to go home. In walks this loud ass man with so much energy speaking to everyone and all of us looking like who is this man. Following that interaction he stopped me & my sister and said he wanted to meet with us following the training. The meeting was one of many of his meetings as he was getting to know all of the coaches on his campus. I entered this meeting as I would any other work meeting. Phil was very professional in the meeting and made my sister and I feel seen and heard from an athletic perspective and extended his support for us in our specific program. He was very welcoming and pure. From the 1st 5min I knew he was crazy about his two daughters and they were the battery in his back and he had an unwavering passion for transforming kids. We both still laugh about him asking me if I was married or engaged because of me wearing my class ring on my ring finger. He said he asked because if he was to put together a coaches retreat he would need to know who has a plus one, however, I think he was trying to see if he had a shot and wanted to be respectful lol. Needless to say, the meeting went well. What happened next is what changed our lives forever. Phil texted me the next morning around 5:30am while he was doing his cardio and I was of course still in bed sleeping. He texted to get my school ID number and then begin to converse with me about how intriguing my energy was and how my aura was so strong and positive that it grabbed his attention and prompted him to text me the next day. Before he went any further, he threw out an ice breaker, telling me he had something to tell me but joked about fearing I would report him to HR lol. After I assured him I would not report him, he proceeded to tell me that I had his attention and he felt I was attractive. I then joked back with him and told him not to report me to HR either because the feelings were mutual. We started conversing around 6am July 28, 2022 and on that day dialogue was so organic and of substance , that we both just stared at our phones smiling waiting on the other to respond. Phil told me from jump that he was not looking for a girlfriend and his intentions were to make me his wife. From July 28, 2022 we have been intentional about becoming ONE (what some may label as dating or being in a relationship). And til this day, from the moment we laid eyes on each other, we have never missed a day without being INTENTIONAL about conversing with each other, dating each other, pursuing each other, loving each other, studying each other, cultivating each other, showing up for each other, supporting each other and most of all being ONE with each other, no matter the time, place or circumstance. We entered a meeting as coworkers and ended as soulmates, finding our person and a POWER COUPLE. So hey, I guess the stars just aligned for us 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♂️🖤🖤 #TeamTanner
