Blake and I met through my Aunt Teri, who was a receptionist at the Skinner Law office. The story goes that on a cold February morning, Blake was dropping something off at Teri's desk when she asked, "Are you single?". Caught off guard, Blake replied "yes... why?". Admittedly, this was a strange question to ask someone out of the blue. Teri quickly followed up with a small laugh and explanation that she was asking because she has a niece who was single and saying we should go out sometime. Before saying yes, Blake asked some follow up questions like, “how old is she?” and “can I see some pictures?”. Confirming that I was indeed 29 and not some spinster, she also brought up my Facebook and showed him some pictures. As she says, she showed him a variety of pictures of me including CrossFit videos, racing pictures and the occasional dressy one. Showing him that I was a “strong, independent woman” so he would know what he was getting. Impressed, of course, he said yes to wanting to meet me. So, she gave him number and off he went back to work. At this point in time, I have no idea this conversation happened because I was at home working. At lunch time, Teri gave me a call. Which was weird because she never called me, and I almost didn’t answer it, but something was telling me that I should. Almost immediately she tells me about this guy she works with, that he’s a lawyer, very handsome and that she thinks we would get along well. Before saying yes, I asked, “how old is he?” and “can I see some pictures?”. Confirming that he was the same age as me, 29, I went to his Facebook and looked him up. Unlike him though, I didn’t have many pictures to go of off when making my decision to go on a date. After debating with myself for a little bit, I agreed. Telling her that it is ok to give him my number and he can call me. Remember that part where I didn’t know that she had already given him my number… sneaky. So later that night he sent me a text, we talked for a bit, went out on a date a week later (sushi, yum) and the rest if history. We have been together ever since that first date. 😊
