You could say we technically met through mutual friends… but that’s not the whole story. For years, we've been part of the same friend group, but somehow never officially crossed paths. By the time Joe would get off work and join the party, Kelly was already a couple of shots of Crown deep and deciding between taking a nap or dancing — priorities, right? Fast forward to the wedding events of our good friends, Alyssa and Jeff Milner. Joe showed up late (again) and spotted Kelly walking a little too confidently around the edge of a swimming pool. He was sure she was going to fall in — and he was right! What he didn’t know was that when she came out of the water, flip-flops floating to the top, with the biggest smile on her face, he’d be completely intrigued by “The Girl Who Fell in the Pool.” A little while later, at Alyssa and Jeff’s joint bachelor/bachelorette party in Vegas, Joe asked, “Is The Girl Who Fell in the Pool going to be there?” (Kelly's first nickname)... Spoiler: she was. Fashionably on time, Crown in hand, ready to celebrate. This time it was Kelly who noticed him — turning to Alyssa’s mom- Rika, and asking, “Who’s the guy in the cowboy hat?” From there… well, let’s just say the night involved a few spilled drinks, switching shoes at dinner, a slip on the floor, and maybe getting kicked out of a bar (Kelly swears it wasn’t her fault — mostly). The next morning, fate intervened again. This time, Kelly was the one running a little late to breakfast (beauty sleep is important), but when she arrived, she found that Alyssa’s dad- Don, had assigned seating. The only empty seat? Right next to Joe. For the remainder of that trip and from that moment on, wherever Kelly was, Joe was and wherever Joe was, Kelly was. Two peas in a pod, partners in crime, and instant travel buddies ever since (Our Family has nicknamed us The Jetsons!). After two years of love, laughter, and shared expletives during Suns and Cowboys games, Joe proposed to Kelly at her dad’s house — with the whole family in on it (and terribly hiding their filming attempts). Even though Kelly had helped pick out her ring, she still didn’t see it coming! In the three plus years that we’ve been together, we’ve experienced both tremendous highs and some of the lowest moments of our lives — including the heartbreaking passings of Joe’s Uncle Derek Tassone, our beloved Dog- Buddy Bear, Kelly’s best friend and biggest influence, her Tata (Sebastian Mirabal), and Joe’s sweet and faithful mother, Michelle Tassone. Through each loss, all we had was the love of each other and the strength of our families to lean on. Those moments, while painful, brought us even closer together and helped us to rekindle our faith in God. We’ve laughed together, cried together, and traveled by car, bus, train, boat, and plane — and wouldn’t have it any other way. Today, we share a home with our Bad Boyz — Moose and Cooper — and a shared vision of a lifetime of adventures together. Our relationship is spontaneous, fun, loving, and supportive — and we can’t wait to continue writing the rest of our story together. These days look a little different than how our story started. Now, you’ll find us spending a little more time on ourselves (dancing together in the kitchen and attending as many SUNS games as possible) and much more time in church with family — because next to God, family is the most important thing to us! We’re forever thankful that what happened in Vegas, followed us home and became the beginning of the best kind of FOREVER! We can’t wait to share our wedding day with all of you — the people we love, the people we call family, and the people who helped shape our story.
