You never know who you'll meet at the bar...

September 15th, 2018

Cameron says... The day was September 15th. I was out for a friend’s birthday. We started at Parlor Pizza and then decided to go to Federales where we were seated at a table near the back corner of the bar. We were all hanging out, having some beer and watching college football. After about 30 minutes, a big group started walking towards the table that was behind me. I turned around when a girl in a gold skirt, black top, and high heels walked in. I tried to play off me checking her out by looking at the TV of the game that was on (no clue who was playing). The girl in the gold skirt came up to me and called me out by saying, “I saw you checking me out.” I had no idea what to say because I wasn’t expecting her to come approach me so all I could do was say was, “yes I was.” After I was called out, we introduced ourselves and started talking. I was quickly informed that she was out with all of her people for her 25th birthday. After awhile, my friends were leaving to go somewhere and I decided that I was going to stick around and continue to get to know Sylvia. I spent the next few hours sitting at the table learning about Sylvia, her friends, family, and her job as a Speech Language Pathologist while being called her husband. Some of her friends went home but a few of us went on to another place called Concrete Cowboy. We danced, laughed, and continued to get to know each other even more. We both get hungry so we went to the McDonald’s on Ohio (yuck, go Blue!) street and had our first magical first kiss in the McDonald’s entrance while I was holding the door for her and her friends. Days after, we set up our first official date at Miller Ale House where we sat in the restaurant for hours just talking about everything and anything.

A morning that I wasn’t planning on going out with my friends turned out to be the start of our love story. Sylvia says... I was so excited to turn 25. My intentions for my 25th adventure around the sun? Feeling less anxious at my new job, spending more time with my mom and brother, find my first Chicago big girl apartment, take on the city with my girls, and "really focus on myself and not on finding a boyfriend" (hahahahahaaaaa). It was the most beautiful sunny September day as we pulled up to 80 Proof for brunch. I felt like a celebrity as I hopped out of the Uber in my clearance-found silk gold skirt and heard my girls cheering silly things. Brunch consisted of TONS of laughter, endless food and mimosas (duh), and the largest receipt I have ever seen. After our time limit for our table was up we decided to try a place not many of us have been.... Federales (ring a bell?) We hopped into Ubers and were on our way. More laughing. More bad singing that our Uber drivers had to listen to. We walk into a very full Feds as an unfortunate party of 10+. Magically, we are able to be sat at a round table in the corner of the bar. We walk through the bar in a single file line, arms waving in the air as we dance to the music. And then... I walk by a man that looks RIGHT AT ME. Not only looks at me, looks me UP AND DOWN! Did I mention he had blue eyes and muscles? Excuse me but was I dreaming? I join my table of my crazies but quickly (and bravely) turn around tap the big man that totally just checked me out on the shoulder. Conveniently, hottie was sitting at the table right next to us…. Coincidence?? I think not. I happened to mention that I saw him check me out as I walked in and this (soft spoken??) man does not deny it. We keep chatting and he eventually joins our corner party to which leads to meeting my best friends, Cameron hearing me refer to him as my husband (oops), dancing at Concrete Cowboy, and ending the night with a quick smooch as we walked into the one and only Rock and Roll McDonalds. I felt like I was living in a rom-com on September 15th, 2018. That sweet feeling has not stopped as the years have come and gone- it was always meant to be Cam
