Parking lot or Beach Trip?

If you want to be exact, we initially met when we were around 16 in the Pilot parking lot hanging out with some of our friends. We might have said two words to one another but that was it. Flash forward a few years, both of our friend groups planned a trip to Port Aransas, Texas for spring break in 2019. We ultimately spent most of the trip with one another and that lead us being inseparable.

The Proposal

"IS THIS THAT MOMENT?"

Sylas did a very good job hiding the proposal. He had the ring for months prior to that day. He decided to take me to one of our favorite spots in La Grange, Texas called Monument Hill. We loved to take our dogs on the hiking trails and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It was October 1st, 2022 and what I was told was we were going to drive to Austin, Texas and spend the day together. He said he needed to stop on our way out of town to take a picture at the park for his dads business. I told him I was going to wait in the truck and he asked if I would just walk with him since it was such a nice day (so glad I did not argue about sitting in the truck). As we start walking to the spot that he and our family set up he kept trying to distract me from seeing the spot too soon. I went to look over by a monument the park had and caught my bonus dad, Craig with a camera taking pictures of us and I knew. I yelled, "IS THIS THAT MOMENT?" and started crying. He guided me down to the overlook of the river where we found a trail of rose petals, a decorated chair, candles shaped in a heart, and a sign that said, "Marry Me?". I thought It could not get better. Then I saw all of his family and mine pop up from behind trees and statues including two of my sisters that I had not seen in months. I sat in the chair as he told me he loved me and how he never thought one spring break trip was going to lead to marriage. I could not stop shaking and when he pulled out the ring an asked, "Will you marry me?" my exact words were "YES! HELL YESS!" (Sorry Grandma). I was so emotional not only because of the love I had for him but also because I got to share it with some of my favorite people. It could not have been more perfect. After we left the parked he surprised me with a engagement party at my parents house with beautiful decorations and great food. It was so magical and perfect I pinched myself multiple times to make sure I was not dreaming. I could not have asked for a better proposal or a more perfect man!
