Ok ok so Sy was a friend of a friend. But I saw her around campus a few times before I actually got the courage to approach her. I would see her from afar and be like “wow..who is that?” Fast forward to October 2016, my friend Brad’s birthday party. I’m chilling in the back as usual just being lowkey. And then SHE walks in. I start talking to myself like, aight now I HAVE to talk to her. I can’t pass this up. I spent a while coming up with my opening line. After what feels like forever I still had nothing… Eventually I catch her by herself and walk up to her and say… “You having a good time?” Super trash! I know. But that’s all I had 😂. But Syeda as we all know was just so sweet. She just laughed a bit and we struck up a conversation. Like a nice convo, really just talked about new music that just came out but I really enjoyed talking to her. And that was it. I didn’t ask for her number, I didn’t ask what she was doing after the party. I just had a nice conversation and told her good night. A few months pass and we come back from winter break and Sy catches me on the campus shuttle and she sits next to me. And she says “hey… do you have my number” I looked at her like she was crazy. I’m like girl you know I don’t have your number! But anyway, she says she really liked talking to me and that I should feel lucky that I kept her attention. I died laughing and we made plans to hang out later. Since then we’ve been inseparable and have been best friends. And til this day I have to agree. I’m so lucky to have kept her attention.
