Great place to see buffalo, elk and deer! Also has a history center where it talks about all the chemical warfare they used to make on the premises.
Very large zoo! Bring your walking shoes!!
Has sharks and stingrays! Good alternative to zoo.
Hiking and a large amphitheater! Challenge yourself to walk down and back up the amphitheater but we will warn you it is not for the faint of heart!
Super cool museum of rocks, precious gems and metals. Also where Sydnie went to school!
Part is in downtown Golden, but it is several trails that run along a beautiful creek. In the summer people frequently tube down the creek. This is one of Mason and Sydnie’s favorite rivers.
Great overlooks that you pretty much drive to.
Two great parks connected by a tunnel with a small stream down the middle of both. Mason and Sydnie have spent hours at this park and is a great place for kids and dogs to play.
Country music dance bar… need I say more?
We like to think of it as a tiny Las Vegas nestled in the mountains. Visit one of the many casinos or drive through there at night and be mesmerized by the lights.
One of the coolest hot springs in Colorado. If you make the trek out there, make sure to do some research about how to get down to the actual hot springs as they are off the side of a highway.
This is a three mile hike straight up, but it is gorgeous at the top!
You can feed giraffes there!
There is a doughnut shop on the top but getting there is not for the faint of heart.
Absolutely gorgeous and often has Elk running around.
Best hat store in town!
Has dinosaur and alligator tracks!!
There is a random hill (The Mound) on campus near the sorority houses with Triceratops and Hadrosaur footprints!
One of the Table Mountains in Golden and a relatively easy hike to the top! Sydnie hiked it as a Freshman at Mines and recommends going right after sunrise. Apparently the KKK used to burn crosses on top and you can still see the anchor points in the rocks at the top.
More dinosaur footprints!
