What is the dress code?

Casual. We want you to be comfortable. Keep an eye on weather conditions, Iowa in May can be unpredictable!

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony starts at 3 PM at the Iowa Arboretum. Please arrive by 2:45 PM to allow time to park and get seated.

Is there a shuttle or transportation provided?

Answer

There will be no shuttle service provided, but both venues have parking available. The ceremony and reception are in separate locations (approx. 30 mins apart), so plan accordingly!

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend the Gateway Hotel in Ames, where the reception will take place. A room block is available—see our “Travel” section for booking details.

Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, our ceremony will be held outdoors at the Iowa Arboretum. Please dress accordingly and bring a light jacket if needed.

What should I do between the ceremony and reception?

We’ll have a cocktail hour starting at 4 PM at the Gateway Hotel in Ames. Enjoy some drinks and snacks while we wrap up photos and get the party started!

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

If your invitation includes a plus one, their name will appear on your invite. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out and ask—we’d love to clarify!
