Our story is not one for romantic novel lovers out there, but we still laugh about it to this day. Tucker and Sydney both grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina, and graduated from Beaufort High School just a year apart—Tucker in 2018, Sydney in 2019. Sharing the same birthday, July 22, they would exchange birthday wishes over the years, though nothing ever came of those brief interactions. That changed in the fall of 2019 when Tucker made the first move, and for a few short months, the two began spending time together. One evening—neither of them can recall the exact date—they found themselves at Factory Creek Landing, a quiet dock in their hometown. It was there that they shared their first kiss, set to the tune of Carrying Your Love With Me by George Strait. The song quickly became a heartfelt symbol of their bond. Despite the undeniable spark between them that night, Tucker and Sydney wouldn’t reconnect again for another three years. In early 2022, Tucker reached out to Sydney during a quiet, lonely night, hoping she might text him back. Though hesitant at first, Sydney responded—and that simple reply rekindled their connection. Over the next month, they spent time catching up, sharing stories, and updating each other on where life had taken them. There was never an official "first date" (and, as many of you know, Tucker has never exactly been the traditional take-you-out-on-a-date type). On July 6, 2022, Tucker asked Sydney to be his girlfriend, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. For the next two years, Sydney made daily visits to Tucker’s apartment, heading home at 6 a.m. each morning. When Tucker's lease eventually came to an end, the couple figured—why not?—and decided to take the next step by moving in together. On May 17th, 2024, they made the move to their very own townhouse in Okatie, South Carolina. Throughout their time together, Tucker and Sydney shared countless memories—road trips, anniversary getaways, and birthday celebrations that deepened their bond. In 2025, Sydney began planning a visit to one of her favorite places: St. Augustine, Florida. The trip was originally meant to celebrate their shared birthday, but as life often does, plans shifted, and they had to push it back. Finally, on August 1st, they headed down to Florida. Sydney had a small feeling—just a hunch—that maybe, just maybe, Tucker might pop the question. But as the days passed with no ring in sight, she brushed the thought aside, telling herself, “Maybe one day.” Then came August 4th, the last full day of their trip. Early that morning, Tucker woke Sydney up to watch the sunrise at the beach. She was half asleep, her hair a mess, no makeup on, and all she could think about was getting an egg and cheese burrito. Still, they made their way to the sand, set up their beach chairs, and immediately got swarmed by sand gnats. Despite that, the sunrise was absolutely perfect. Wanting to capture the moment, they propped up a phone to take some “pictures” in front of the ocean. But Sydney quickly realized this was more than just a photo op—Tucker got down on one knee. Everything he had rehearsed in his head went out the window. His hands trembled as he tried (unsuccessfully) to open the ring box—backwards. Sydney, completely shocked and still feeling disheveled, couldn’t believe he was proposing when she looked like such a mess. But none of that mattered. Tucker looked up at her and began, “I love you, and all these trips that we go on...” before Sydney reached down to steady his shaking hands. Then, with a full heart, he asked, “Do you want to take these trips for the rest of our lives and marry me?” She said yes.
