As soon as we arrived on campus as freshmen in college, we were introduced to one another through a mutual group of friends. TJ's friends were Sydney's friends and Sydney's friends were TJ's friends, so right off the bat we were frequently in each other's presence. The group of us friends partied together, studied together, and ate dinner together. At parties, Sydney was always the life of the party; dancing in the middle with her girls. On the complete other side of the spectrum was TJ, chilling in the back scoping out the scene. Opposites indeed do attract. We originally started off as friends because neither of us we're really looking for anything serious at the time, especially so early in our college journey. But as we got to know each other more and more, it just felt natural. TJ said to his freshmen college roommate "Sydney's going to be my bestfriend, I can already see it" and fast forward 2 months later we made it official and never looked back. Who would've thought "college sweethearts" were truly a thing? I guess we know now.
The ultimate goal was for the proposal to be completely unexpected. Easier said than done when we practically know each others every move and can't keep anything from one another. It was the night before Sydney's birthday where we celebrated with an elegant dinner at a rooftop restaurant. Little did she know she was coming back to TJ's apartment looking vastly different than what it looked liked when she left. As we walked back into TJ's apartment after dinner, she was led down a walkway of rose pedals lined up with candles lit leading her to a slideshow of pictures of us over the years with an arch of pink, red, and white balloons surrounding a "Marry Me" sign directly in her view. As we made it to the end of the walkway and stood in the middle of a rose pedal filled heart, TJ got on one knee and asked for Sydney's hand in marriage. Pretty nice way to start your birthday. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
