Our wedding is being held in Barberino Val d'Elsa, a suburb of Florence in the Tuscany region of Italy!
We wanted to have a small celebration with our closest friends and family! When we saw this venue it felt true to us as a couple and we couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to travel. Having a venue with accommodations also allows us to spend quality time with our guests throughout the week as opposed to the rush normally felt during wedding festivities.
When all members of your family are ready to book, begin to research prices and flight options from your area. We are using Google Flights' price tracker to keep tabs on ticket prices- I have found flights to be cheapest on Mondays and Tuesdays so far. Fights should be booked by January 2022 to avoid last minute price increases.
Borgo Petrognano was first constructed in the 1100s; it is the only remaining structures from the former town of Semifonte, which was destroyed at the beginning of the 13th century by the nearby city-state of Florence. The venue is comprised of 4 buildings with 15 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, a pool, and a sauna! The property is surrounded by a valley of vineyards and olive groves and is western facing so that guests may best enjoy the sunset. It is managed by the lovely duo, Roberta and Roberto, and is a member of Residenze d'Epoca, a collection of historic homes, castles, and villas certified to be true to their original design in addition to being rated for quality and excellence! You can see more pictures and find more information on their Airbnb listing or Instagram page:
Breakfast and lunch options will be available daily Saturday-Tuesday. A pasta dinner will be provided on Saturday evening (at your convenience; we're expecting that varying arrival times and jet lag will stagger eating schedules). The rehearsal dinner will be Sunday evening and all wedding guests are invited to attend! On the day of the wedding, appetizer buffets will be open immediately following the ceremony, a multi-course plated dinner will be served in the evening, with cake and dancing to follow. There are many local restaurants nearby if you'd like to explore the area as well!
Springtime in Tuscany has mild to cool weather with temperatures in the mid 60s during the day and mid to low 50s at night. However, if it is unexpectedly warm, our hosts will open the pool early for us!
RSVPs are due by March 5th and can be submitted under the RSVP tab above!
Your RSVP should indicate how many people are included with your invitation. For the most part, extra guests cannot be accommodated due to the limited sleeping arrangements and fire code capacity of the venue. If you are unsure if you may bring a guest, please reach out to Sydney for clarification!
As Sydney will not be changing her last name, please refrain from addressing the couple as “The Suttons” or “Mr. and Mrs. Sutton”. Feel free to use “the happy couple”, or “Mr. Sutton and Mrs. Valadie” instead!
