Camp Hodia is a diabetes camp for kids and adolescents living with Type 1 Diabetes. I have been going to camp since my mom was pregnant with Sophie and I in 2002. I have been going ever since with my family. My mom has been a part of Hodia for over 25 years and shared the love and magic of Hodia with us before we were born. Rollin started going to camp when he was only 7 years old when the camps founder Don Scott met Rollin when he was in the hospital getting diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Rollin has been on staff for Hodia for over 10 years and grew up as a camper going to camp. Because of Don Scott's passion for creating a place for kids and teens with Type 1 Diabetes Rollin and I met and we get to spend the rest of our lives with one another.
Camp Hodia is where Rollin and I met in the summer of 2024 at teen camp. Camp Hodia rents out Luther Heights Bible Camp every year for various summer camps. We have both been staying at LHBC for our entire time as campers and counselors with Hodia. It is a special place to both of us and where we are both wanting to share our love with each other and with our guests
Rollin and I met at Hodia Teen Camp (diabetes camp) at Luther Heights Bible Camp in the summer of 2024 during staff meeting on the first day. We both admired each other's crazy choice for volunteering to take care of medically fragile kids for a whole week in the remote Sawtooth Mountains. We were able to bond and learn about one another in an intimidate environment that both means so much to us.
