Business Casual at a minimum. Jeans and khakis will suffice with a button up or blouse. If you wish to go all out- We encourage it! We are going for an enchanted forest vibe so feel free to wear your flowy princess gowns if you like and, if possible, keep the colors light and in the pastel family. Summer in Iowa is HOT and HUMID so cut back on the layers and wear light, breathable fabrics. For shoes- the ceremony will be on a gravel path so only wear heels if you want a challenge (you've been warned!). Please no cargo shorts, t-shirts, or super casual street clothes. Avoid black if possible. And of course: white, ivory, cream, and dresses with a train are reserved for the bride.
The theme colors will be pastels with olive and sage green. Think: Enchanted Forest/Medieval Fantasy.
Yes! We will have a "Kid Zone" just below the reception with movies and kids activities that they may play in at anytime during the party. We are planning on providing pizza, snacks, and drinks in the "Kid Zone" (TBD). The campground is all ours and is free to roam for the kiddos with multiple outdoor play areas. There is a lake on-site, so supervision is expected for little ones playing outdoors. Parents with babies and toddlers will have plenty of places to rest and step away, including the next door family cabin, if needed. Please note that while the wedding is kid friendly we can't guarantee the music will be! (sorry!)
Yes, there will be wine and canned drinks. While alcohol will be present, please drink in moderation. Any inappropriate behavior or those who appear irresponsibly intoxicated will be booted from the party-no exceptions. The venue is VERY strict on its drinking policy and one violation can result in the entire party being removed with zero refund. Please don't be that guy!
If you are from out of state and arriving early we highly encourage you to check out the Iowa State Fair (Iowa's biggest attraction) at the Des Moines State Fair Grounds (Aug 13-23)! Tickets are cheap and there is plenty to do to last a day (or several). There are different events, food vendors, concerts, expos, and rides. Check it out here: https://www.iowastatefair.org/ There will be coffee and small breakfast for the morning after the party to those who stick around and help with breakdown. The Bride and Groom will be busy with preparations the week leading up to the wedding.
