Timing is everything. We joke that we don’t actually remember exactly when we met. Our paths first crossed thanks to a mutual friend: Rebecca Borison. Rebecca went to high school with Sydney and then sang a cappella with Lior in college. She was our unofficial matchmaker, even though we didn’t know it when we first met. It all started—at least, as far as we can remember—at her birthday party back in 2017. We had a wonderful time chatting and dancing, and went on a few dates in the months that followed. But life has its own rhythm, and it didn’t quite stick. Fast forward to 2023, and fate—or maybe a little nudge from grandparents in heaven—intervened. Sydney had a dream about Lior that was so vivid that it felt like a premonition—that maybe Lior was someone she was meant to reconnect with. A few months later, out of the blue, another nudge. Sydney opened an alumni email from her elementary school and (*swoon*) Lior's face was staring right back at her: Six13 was coming to Cleveland for a performance. Not letting the moment pass her by, she sent him a text. That text led to drinks. Drinks led to dinner. They saw the Barbie movie together. They ate pasta together. Lior took Sydney on an afternoon hike that he thought was only two hours long but it was four hours and he forgot about daylight savings time so they finished in the dark and it was cold and Sydney was not impressed. Nevertheless, they persisted. Since then, we've laughed, cried, learned, grown, eaten lots of ice cream, and strengthened the bond of our friendship through our continued commitment to each other.
