We were two people, both quietly hoping to find our person. One day, Jesse popped up on my Instagram. A guy hanging out the window of a Bronco somewhere in Utah, wearing the coolest, most effortless look. I remember thinking, this guy’s pretty cute, and giving him a follow. That was it. No message. No expectations. A few days later, Jesse couldn’t help but ask why I had followed him. I told him the truth. I thought he was cute. From there, the conversation just started. We talked, we got to know each other, and before we knew it, something real was forming. At the time, I was living in Texas and Jesse was in Oklahoma. I’d always told myself that if a relationship was going to work, the guy would have to be willing to travel to me first. So on July 4th, 2025, Jesse made the first trek down to Texas, driving that old truck of his, for our very first date. We had dinner at Riverside Grille and watched fireworks together that night. And when I saw Jesse in person for the first time, something between us changed. I knew from that day forward that this guy was going to change the trajectory of my life. We spent the next stretch of our relationship long distance. Jesse did most of the traveling to see me, and I made the trip to Oklahoma a couple of times too. Even without being engaged, we were serious, the kind of serious where you already know the timeline, the future, and that you’re choosing each other. By December, I started thinking about what came next. I didn’t want everything to happen all at once, engagement, moving, marriage, without truly settling into this life together. So I decided that if I could find the right job, I would move to Oklahoma in January to build our foundation first. I applied for a job that felt perfect for me… and it worked out. So here I am, in Oklahoma, loving it, growing into this new chapter, and building a life with Jesse. Leaving my family was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it was also a step taken with so much love, trust, and certainty in what we’re creating together. What started as a simple Instagram follow turned into a journey of miles, choices, and commitment, and we’re so grateful that it led us here.
