During their freshman and sophomore years of college, Jaycob and Sydney had a few classes together and saw each other around campus, but they never really talked. That all changed in the first semester of their junior year, when a huge power outage shut down most of the buildings on campus. Each went to a building that still had power to study with friends, and they naturally ended up at the same table. For the next couple of hours, everyone talked and hung out with absolutely no homework or studying being completed. During that conversation, they exchanged phone numbers, and a few days later, Jaycob even offered to drive Sydney and her teammate to Powderpuff practice for an upcoming homecoming event. From there, spending time together just kept happening, and it all felt easy and natural. Nothing was over planned or dramatic, just small moments that slowly added up to something really special. Looking back, it’s amazing how a random power outage brought them together, and now they’re getting ready to celebrate with all the people who’ve watched their story unfold.
