Picture beautiful, surfable, waves off the North Shore of Oahu crashing on to the beach of Chun's Reef. Little did Jake and Sydney know they were catching the same wave surfing one perfect Hawaiian day when their surf boards crashed into one another.. Just kidding they met like most other couples these days through the online dating platform Hinge (though they like the surfing story better). Sydney was in Hawaii finishing her clinical year of veterinary school when she met Jake who was stationed at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii. They met for dinner at a local restaurant called Monkeypod which has since become one of their favorite restaurants to visit to this date.

Jake proposed to Sydney on a secluded beach in Siesta Key, Florida, on a family vacation with the Stotlers. Jake had laid out seashells with different dates and places signifying milestones in their relationship along the beach for Sydney to find. The last shell read, "Siesta Key 6-30-23." Stacy, Sydney's sister, was wearing a disguise on the beach capturing the whole thing on camera. The engagement was witnessed by Sydney's family followed by celebratory champagne on the beach. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you in the place where we fell in love! See you in Hawaii!
