Syd and Jake met at a house party hosted by Jake’s college crew, when she was a sophomore and he was a junior at ASU. In the following weeks, Syd made the first move by giving Jake her phone number. Jake then took her for coffee on their first date — though young Syd ordered a smoothie. Two months of getting to know each other later, Jake asked Syd to be his girlfriend on her 20th birthday. If you do the math, this means they've been together for over 7 years now!

Jake proposed to Syd on a scenic hike in Sedona. It was Cathedral Rock Trail, a route they'd done before but the views at the top were different this time. Tucked away from the crowds for a moment of rest, Syd went to capture a video of the stunning red rocks around them. When she spun the camera towards Jake, she discovered him holding the ring with a big, cheesy, sweaty smile on his face. And she said YES! The pair then spent the rest of the day and night simultaneously exploring the town and floating on cloud nine.
