A long time ago on a beach far far away, Jacob and Syd were on summer training in San Diego. According to Jacob, they met a few times and even hung out in a group together, but Syd does not recall (the Venmo transaction history for the burger still cannot be found...). At the time, Syd was hanging out with all of Jacob's friends, but not Jacob. Jacob claims he liked Syd, but if he did then he didn't say anything. Fast forward to spring semester of youngster year, and Jacob and Syd sat directly across from each other in history class together. Both of them knew each other, but nobody said anything, and the only interaction they had was when Jacob asked if he could borrow her pen for the final. Apparently, Jacob tried to talk to Syd before that, but she was always walking and reading, so she never noticed him (I guess he just needed to speak up a bit). A little bit after finals, they were held hostage at the Academy in the weeks before graduation, and they were both in the same training to be SAPR GUIDES (google it, I don't want to explain). For one of the discussions, we had to form groups of 3, so our group was the 2 of us and one of our mutual friends, shoutout Austin Johnson. We spent the rest of the group conversation talking to each other and lowkey ignoring Austin (sorry, man). But once again, neither spoke to the other after that one conversation. A little while later that summer, they were both at the Academy, training the incoming class of plebes. Syd was working with Jacob's teammate, shoutout Jake Wolinski. Syd and Jake walked to church together one day, and he invited her to come sit with their team. Syd sat there quietly while they all talked, and Jacob noticed her sitting quietly by herself. He turned around and started talking to her, and you WOULD THINK, that the rest would be history. But hasn't this story taught you anything? So the next day, Syd goes back to her room and she's thinking about this guy she just met and decides she'd like to see him more. They start talking, and Syd eventually asks Jacob to go on a run and he HAS THE AUDACITY TO SAY NO. Jeez man, I thought you were pining long enough already. A week later, Jacob invited Syd to go with him to the pool across from the Academy and do a workout (looking back, he really just wanted to be able to say he asked me out). Needless to say, not much swimming was done and they spent most of the time talking. After that, Syd invited him to come get coffee with her, and NOW the rest is history:) A few months later, Syd hit Jacob with a car, but that's a different story.
