The Ava Gardner Museum is home to an incredible collection of memorabilia including original scripts, photos, costumes, and personal effects of screen legend Ava Gardner—a true Hollywood “Cinderella” story. Admission per person: $12 adults; $10 seniors, military, teens; $8 children ages 6-12; Under 6 - Free. Special group rate of $10/person for 10 or more. Wheelchair accessible, public restrooms. Free parking along street and rear lots. If you have a group of 10 or more and your own transportation, the museum will provide a step-on guide service for $15.00 per person (which includes admission to the museum), and take you along the Ava Gardner Heritage Tour. Hours: Monday-Friday 9:30am-4:30pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm During instances of inclement weather the museum may operate on delay or close for safety reasons. This 1924 train station was completely restored in the Fall of 2002. Enjoy exhibits and memorabilia on rail history and the Town of Selma. Hours: Passenger waiting room is open daily, 10am-5pm. Station attendant is on duty one hour before and stays until one-half hour after all train arrivals and departures. Parking: Ample free parking for short-term and long-term parking available at the station and on adjoining Railroad Street.
Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site is a Civil War battlefield registered as a National Historic Landmark. The Battle of Bentonville was fought March 19-21, 1865, nearly three weeks before Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox and nearly four weeks before the largest troop surrender in the state of North Carolina, at Bennett Place in Durham.
