Sydney and Grant met at a Halloween party their freshman year of college at UGA. That night, Grant put his number in Sydney's phone as "The Love of My Life Who I'm Going to Marry." Neither of them thought anything of it, and remained friends for the remainder of the year. However, the more that they spent time together, the more they realized how much they enjoyed being around each other. They went on their first date night in the Spring of freshman year, and the rest is history!

On the anniversary of when they first met, Grant surprised Sydney with a proposal at the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta! Their best friends, Megan and Thomas, "suggested" a double date night at the gardens, followed by dinner. Thinking nothing of it, Sydney happily agreed. As they were roaming around the gardens, and Sydney was looking at the beautiful flowers, Grant was behind her down on one knee. Sydney turned around in surprise and Grant popped the question! They then went to a surprise party at Megan's house, where all of their family and friends were there to celebrate!
