Sydney and Ellis met through their mutual friend, Gage in the summer of 2018. As soon as Sydney left, Ellis turned to Gage with hearts in his eye and asked "Who was that? She's gorgeous!" Ellis did not leave an impression on Sydney because she does not remember meeting him that first time. However, that first impression did not stop them from becoming friends. Their friendship would continue to grow over the next 2 years filled with laughter, light-hearted debates and ganging up to pick on Gage. But In the words of Peter Quill, there were was "some unspoken thing" between them that would also continue to grow. There was the time Ellis rescued Sydney when her car ran out of gas and he teased her, saying he wanted to be the first person she calls in those situations instead of the third that he was. Sparks began to ember over the Friendsgiving turkey that Ellis helped Sydney carve. (It was her first time cooking a turkey). But the moment that really made the sparks ignite was the night Ellis, Sydney, and Gage were watching the Chiefs in a Lawrence sports bar. After a beer or two, Sydney let loose a large belch and Ellis looked at her with a smile in his eyes and said "Marry Me." Sydney and Ellis's friendship grew into a relationship upon spending time together after a night out celebrating Gage's birthday. That relationship has now outgrown it's pot and is ready to grow in a marriage to last a lifetime.
