If you know Doug, the odds are you know Zack Norley. Well, my first experience meeting Doug was exactly that as it was Zack's birthday that brought Doug to NYC the night we met. On this fateful visit, the Norley clan + Doug had all but taken over a low key bar in the West Village, The White Horse Tavern, when my friend Eva and I walked in. It was busy enough to be interesting but not overcrowded, so we decided to stay for a drink. Fast forward 1 month - Doug and I are back in NYC (neutral territory) each trying to figure out if there might be something special in the spark from that night at White Horse to make this distance thing work. So how does one find out? Makes a reservation at her favorite restaurant, Maialino, taking the only reservation available for Saturday night. Given that reservation was 10 pm it might have been our hunger that made the food and company seem so great, but that was surely the night we knew this was different. Chatting like old friends, sitting close over amazing Italian food and trying to quell the little butterflies that wouldn't go away, the spark was real. Fast forward again a little over a year - we were walking to Maialino for a Valentine's Day dinner when a very sparkly ring appeared from Doug who was down on one knee. The very place where our love began, became the place where our engagement began. Our 2nd dinner there had all the butterflies, beauty and deliciousness of the first, just a little more champagne. Some luck, a spark and a lifetime of love. That's our story. Come to the wedding and he'll tell you his version :)
