Back in 2017, Connor was working in Marketing and on the hunt for a new role. Sydney was working as a Recruiter at a Staffing Agency that focused on Marketing & Communications. As Sydney searched for a candidate on LinkedIn, her search terms found Connor's LinkedIn profile. They had a call to go over what Connor was looking for, but there weren't any roles that fit at the time. Fast forward to Spring of 2018, and Connor has been laid off. He reached out to Sydney to reconnect and they set up a time to grab coffee. Typically, Sydney would spend about 45 minutes chatting with candidates about their job search... But Connor and Sydney talked for over 2 hours, moving well beyond job titles or salaries. They talked about music, where they grew up, movies, and both felt there was something there... Sydney may or may not have gone around her office, showing her colleagues the cute candidate she just met with. A month later, Connor got a new job (not through Sydney, though...) and he emailed her to ask her out to coffee again. Sydney turned to her boss and said "Becky, is he opening a door? Is he asking me out??" Becky was immediately on-board and told Sydney want to do: pick a day and offer 11am (so if it goes well, we can hang out through lunch) OR 4pm (so if it goes well, we can hang out into the evening). Connor immediately responded, choosing 4pm. And they totally hung out into the evening, and haven't stopped hanging out since. In the end, it was techncially LinkedIn that brought Connor and Sydney together, but both vehemently tell people that LinkedIn is NOT a dating app... They just got really, really lucky. :)
