Despite the newly announced stay-at-home order in Allegheny county, our wedding is still on!! We have been in constant communication with our vendors and venues to ensure that every precaution needed to make this day happen and keep everyone safe has been put in place. Some specific updates to note at this time: For the Mass - Our church is asking that each attendant be wearing a mask at all times when in the cathedral. Anyone that is participating in the mass will be able to remove their masks during their piece in the ceremony. Guests are to enter the church through the door near the parking lot (on N Dithridge St), and you will be asked to exit the church near the restrooms. For the Reception - There will be valet parking available to anyone wishing to drive. We will still have a shuttle available for guests that are staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel that will begin running at 5pm. A shuttle schedule will be located at the front desk of the hotel. Guests WILL be required to wear masks during the reception unless they are eating. The hors d'oeuvres will be located at chef-attended stations and there will be two bar locations for drinks. There will be a greeter at the reception to inform all of our guests of each chef station as well as each bar. At this time, our venue is requiring us to box all cookies on the cookie table. Please feel free to take a box (or more) during cocktail hour, throughout the evening when you're craving something sweet, and a little treat to take home with you afterwards! The silverware is also required to be sanitized and rolled in a napkin prior to being distributed to each guest. Please continue to check back in periodically. Colin and I met July 4th, 2017 at my best friend’s (and Matron of Honor’s) cookout while he was living in DC pursuing his Masters degree from Georgetown University. I had driven up to Arlington for the afternoon with hopes of a good cheeseburger and a sky full of fireworks in the Nation’s capital. When heading into the back yard I noticed a man in a sleeveless, Larry Bird Team USA jersey among the sea of other guys in button up shirts. Completely smitten, I politely smiled when we made eye contact and walked by to find my friends. A little later Colin had made his way over to our group. I noticed he was a little shy, so I complimented him on how well his shoes matched his jersey and made a joke that referenced The Office to bring more comfort and lightheartedness to the situation (anyone who knows Colin is probably not surprised this is what helped him start talking). From that moment, conversation naturally flowed. Later, Colin had to leave with his roommate to head over to another cookout, but took my number to meet up for fireworks that night. Due to a few location setbacks and a stubborn Uber driver, Colin wasn’t able to make it to fireworks. Instead, I met him afterward at the Washington Monument. We shared laughs, stories and our dreams until one o’clock in the morning; forever marking DC a special place in our hearts. The night became the most perfect love story we could have ever hoped for, and it was ours to tell. God has a beautiful way of showing us all the human heart is capable of through the ability to love one another. While countless details will have to be worked out, there is one thing I know for certain; the man I will be meeting at the other end of the altar. I now know what it is like to love and be blessed with the love of the man God had set aside for me from the beginning, and I cannot wait to be his wife.
