Celebrating love

Candace and Sydney met at work and initially maintained a platonic relationship. One night, Candace begged Sydney to meet her out at Tarantula Hill Brewing Company. Being the introvert she is, Sydney of course declined. However, Candace remained persistent. Their first outside of work "hang out" consisted of attending a co-workers birthday party at Tarantula, which then migrated to the Tipsy Goat. Then, a friendship blossomed.

The scene; it’s the months leading up to the pandemic, the world is lively and all is well. It’s drag brunch time at Flaming Saddles. One day, Sydney invited Candace to drag brunch in West Hollywood. It was during their first drag brunch date and tons of bottomless mimosas later that Candace first held Sydney’s hand (gasp!). Operation “flirtation” commenced. Candace and Sydney’s first kiss took place at the Abbey Food and Bar on February 1, 2020.

The scene: We're in the midst of the pandemic, but getting ready to spend time with a couple friends (outdoors & socially distanced of course). Candace comes over to get Sydney, but fakes sick. Sydney is left attending the social hang alone. Little did Sydney know, Candace was planning the most epic girlfriend-proposal scavenger hunt EVER. Candace called Sydney and reported she was feeling better, she requested Sydney come pick her up. Sydney returns and finds clues all around the house; each leading to the next until finally the final clue is revealed. It was very simply spelled out, Candace wanted to make things official (swoon!).

The scene: Candace got Sydney tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood for her birthday (Sydney loves Harry Potter land). Sydney is feeling super excited, but notes her parents are acting kind of weird in the morning (more clingy than usual- her mother is overly concerned with her outfit choice), but Sydney blows it off. Sydney and Candace get to Universal, all Sydney wants to do is get her Harry Potter wand. Once the wand was retrieved, Candace stops Sydney in front of a store in Hogsmeade. Candace begins her love speech, and Sydney's mind is racing wondering what is happening. The next thing Sydney knows, Candace is on one knee asking "Will you marry me?". At this point, Sydney is in complete shock but immediately screams yes. Out pops Tara and Mac; their photo team & dear friends. Candace planned a whole surprise engagement and captured the moment by having their dear friends sneakily follow them into the park. It was the best day EVER.
