Sydney only remembers Cameron from working at McDonald’s together as teenagers, but Cameron insists that he tried talking to her at school and got ignored. Cameron dropped subtle hints that he liked her, but she obviously didn’t get the hints.
Sydney’s parents bought tickets to a Beloit Snapper’s game and allowed Maddie, her younger sister, to bring her boyfriend at the time. Sydney, being single, decided to invite Cameron so she wouldn’t feel awkward. They all had a good time and during the fireworks at the end of the game, Sydney leaned in to kiss him on the cheek as a joke but he quickly turned his head and kissed her instead, and he asked her to officially be his girlfriend that night.
It had been 9 days after Sydney’s beloved grandmother Rita (aka Meme) lost her battle with cancer and dementia. Sydney had been working at the veterinary hospital at the time and Cameron had a day off, so he decided to clean the house all day. Sydney came home from a long day of work, and she walked in the door to find the lights turned off, slow music playing, candles burning and roses and petals everywhere. He had even spelled out “Marry me” in rose petals on the kitchen counter. Suspicious, she peeked into the living room expecting him to be sitting on the couch, but instead finds their friend Ben standing in the corner with a camera🤣. She turns around to find Cameron standing in front of the fireplace, dressed nicely, with a little box in his hand. She approached him and he got down on one knee and says “Sydney, will you marry me?” She (obviously) says yes and he stands up to hug her and put the ring on her finger. He asks, “Do you recognize it?” Looking at it, Sydney says “No, but it’s beautiful” and Cameron tells her, “Well, it’s Meme’s, and I have her wedding band too.” Needless to say Cameron’s shirt was soaked with her tears shortly after that.
Cameron is working with his brother Brady at their uncle’s electrical company as an apprentice electrician. He is also a volunteer firefighter on the Footville Fire Department, with his father-in-law Rodney Punzel as his captain. Sydney is currently unemployed due to Covid. She unfortunately had to quit her job at the vet due to a hostile work environment. But she is enjoying her time off spending time with her furbabies and doing side jobs such as babysitting or yard work, as well as wedding planning of course. She has also gotten into video gaming, thanks to Cameron. The two have been living together since May 2019, and currently living in a little house that Sydney’s father Rodney helped them purchase in May 2020. They have two furbabies together; Sasha, a 5 year old calico cat rescued from the humane society in July 2019, and Phoenix, a one year old Siberian Husky adopted in March 2020.
